Solutions to common issues when using Typr.

Installation Issues

App Won't Launch

Symptoms: Typr doesn't open when clicked

Solutions:

  1. Restart your Mac - Fixes most launch issues
  2. Right-click → Open (first time only) - Bypasses macOS security
  3. Check System Requirements - macOS 11 or later required
  4. Reinstall Typr - Download fresh from typrapp.com
  5. Check Console logs - Open Console.app, search for "Typr"

Models Won't Download

Symptoms: AI models stuck downloading or fail

Solutions:

  1. Check internet connection - Stable connection required
  2. Disable VPN temporarily - Some VPNs block downloads
  3. Free up disk space - Need 2GB free
  4. Restart Typr - Cancel and retry download
  5. Check firewall settings - Allow Typr network access

Permission Errors

Symptoms: "Permission denied" or access errors

Solutions:

  1. Grant microphone access:
    • System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone
    • Enable Typr
  2. Grant screen recording (macOS 13+):
    • System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording
    • Enable Typr
  3. Restart Typr after granting permissions

Recording Issues

Microphone Not Working

Symptoms: No audio captured, no transcription

Solutions:

  1. Check permissions (see above)
  2. Select correct microphone:
    • Typr Settings → Audio → Input Device
  3. Test in other apps - Verify mic works
  4. Check audio levels - Green indicator should show
  5. Restart Typr - Refreshes audio devices
  6. Unplug/replug external microphones

No System Audio Captured

Symptoms: Can't record Zoom/Meet audio

Solutions:

  1. Enable Screen Recording permission (macOS 13+)
  2. Select "System Audio" in Typr Settings
  3. Use built-in recording in video call app as alternative
  4. Check audio output - Must play through Mac speakers/headphones

Recording Stopped Unexpectedly

Symptoms: Recording ends before meeting finished

Solutions:

  1. Check available disk space - Recording auto-stops if full
  2. Meeting length limit - Free: 25min max, Pro: unlimited
  3. Check crash reports - Settings → Help → View Logs
  4. Update Typr - Fix known bugs

Lost recording? Check Drafts folder - may be auto-saved.

Transcription Issues

Poor Transcription Quality

Symptoms: Many errors, wrong words, gibberish

Solutions:

  1. Improve audio quality:
    • Use better microphone
    • Reduce background noise
    • Adjust mic position (6-12 inches away)
  2. Check audio levels:
    • Not too loud (clipping)
    • Not too quiet (background)
  3. Try cloud models (optional):
    • Settings → AI → Use Cloud Models
    • Better accuracy, zero retention
  4. Speak clearly - Moderate pace, clear enunciation
  5. Check language - Currently English only

No Transcription Generated

Symptoms: Recording succeeds but no transcript

Solutions:

  1. Wait for processing - Can take 30-60 seconds
  2. Check AI models downloaded - Settings → AI
  3. Verify audio was captured - Play recording
  4. Restart Typr - Try processing again
  5. Check free disk space - Need space for processing

Transcription Stuck Processing

Symptoms: "Processing..." forever

Solutions:

  1. Wait 5 minutes - Long meetings take time
  2. Restart Typr - Restart processing
  3. Check Activity Monitor - Verify Typr isn't frozen
  4. Clear cache - Settings → Advanced → Clear Cache
  5. Contact support with meeting ID

AI Chat Issues

Chat Not Responding

Symptoms: Questions don't generate answers

Solutions:

  1. Check chat limit:
    • Free: 5 per meeting
    • Pro: Unlimited
  2. Wait for transcript - Chat needs completed transcript
  3. Ask clear questions - Be specific
  4. Restart Typr - Refresh AI connection

Chat Gives Wrong Answers

Symptoms: Responses don't match meeting content

Solutions:

  1. Verify transcript accuracy - If transcript wrong, chat will be too
  2. Ask more specific questions - Include names, topics, timeframes
  3. Try rephrasing - Different wording may help
  4. Report issue - Help us improve AI

Export Issues

Export Button Grayed Out

Symptoms: Can't click Export

Solutions:

  1. Wait for processing - Meeting must finish processing
  2. Check file permissions - Need write access to export folder
  3. Select a meeting - Must have meeting selected
  4. Free disk space - Need space for export file

Export Formatting Wrong

Symptoms: PDF/Word looks broken

Solutions:

  1. Update Typr - Latest version
  2. Try different format - PDF vs Word vs Text
  3. Check export settings - Settings → Export
  4. Clear corrupted exports - Delete and re-export

License & Billing Issues

License Key Not Working

Symptoms: "Invalid license" or "Already used"

Solutions:

  1. Copy entire key - No extra spaces
  2. Check email - Use exact key from email
  3. Device limit - Max 2 devices per license
  4. Deactivate old device - Settings → Billing → Deactivate
  5. Contact support with order details

No License Email Received

Symptoms: Paid but no email

Solutions:

  1. Check spam folder - Often ends up there
  2. Wait 5 minutes - Email may be delayed
  3. Check correct email - Used at checkout
  4. Contact support - Live chat on typrapp.com

Subscription Issues

Symptoms: Payment problems, renewal issues

Solutions:

  1. Check payment method - May be expired
  2. Update billing - Settings → Billing → Manage
  3. Check bank statement - Verify charge
  4. Contact support - Billing issues resolved quickly

Performance Issues

Typr Running Slow

Symptoms: Laggy, unresponsive, slow

Solutions:

  1. Close other apps - Free up RAM
  2. Restart Typr - Clear memory
  3. Update macOS - Latest version recommended
  4. Check Activity Monitor - Look for high CPU usage
  5. Delete old meetings - Archive or export then delete

High CPU Usage

Symptoms: Fan running loud, Mac hot

Solutions:

  1. During recording - Normal, AI processing is intensive
  2. After recording - Should return to normal
  3. Persistent high usage - Restart Typr
  4. Background processing - Check Settings → AI → Background Processing

Data & Sync Issues

Missing Meetings

Symptoms: Meetings disappeared

Solutions:

  1. Check Archive - May have been archived
  2. Check All Meetings view - Not just Recent
  3. Search by name - Use search function
  4. Check backup - Time Machine restore if needed
  5. Not deleted - Typr has trash/undo (check Trash folder)

Can't Delete Meetings

Symptoms: Delete doesn't work

Solutions:

  1. Select meeting first - Must be highlighted
  2. Check permissions - File permissions issue
  3. Force quit and retry - Restart Typr
  4. Manual delete - Finder: ~/Library/Application Support/Typr
